Academic Point Calculation for Admission into Public Higher Educational Institutions in Malaysia

Under this segment, the  STPM school leavers will find the information provided here especially useful as the academic point calculation for entry into public instituons of higher learning in Malaysia or known as Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) is carefully explained and described here.

For STPM Level leavers, the calculation of total academic points by BPKP for entry into public universities is based on STPM candidates’ performance in four of their best STPM subjects including the Pengajian Am (General Paper). An average of the student’s 4 best grades (including General Paper) is calculated.

The calculation is based on Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), which is similar to the points system of Matriculation Programmes. Extra-curricular activities will only be used as a tiebreaker in an event where 2 or more students’ graders for their papers are the same.

Calculation of Co-Curriculum Points
The average points of the best 2 out of 3 fields ascertained will be taken, that is, Physical Education/Games, Uniformed Teams and Clubs/Associations. The total points will be 10 points.
